This portrait has three reference points. These are John Pope, Pope John and the current Pope. My earlier portrait of the self-styled sorcerer and Freemason John Pope, itself inspired by the Freemasonic sorcerer Aleister Crowley (Pope claimed to be Crowley's spiritual successor), informed what many traditionalists consider to be the first of the modern day line of post-Vatican II antipopes, Pope John XXIII, which, during the execution of oil onto canvas, morphed into Jorge Mario Bergoglia, ie The Last Pope ~ the twelfth century prophet St Malachy identifies Francis the First as the Last Pope.
